1. No matter how much I want to stop or skip time, time never waits for me and passes.
I enjoy making records of the fading memories and moments. The artwork I produce is where I could be most honest. So, I like to ask broad but honest questions so that the viewers can also ask themselves and look back.
Through this process, the works come out with different forms and carry more stories within.
2. I personally like the quote " Everything you see is not what it seems". Vivid and bright colors in the works don't always convey "happy" messages. The ambiguous facial expressions of the figures allow for multiple interpretations. The images show vague memories of being pure, reckless, and naive.
I want my stories to let the viewers remember the "child" we all once were and think about what makes them "happy". 'What kind of a child was I?' 'What makes me happy?'
1. 시간은 늘 나를 걷잡을 수 없이 항상 흘러간다.
시간을 아무리 멈추고 싶거나 건너뛰고 싶어도 시간은 늘 무심하게 덤덤히 흘러간다.
그 속에서 잊히거나 흐릿해지는 장면들과 기억들을 ‘나만의 기록’으로 남기는 것을 즐긴다.
나의 작업들은 나에게 있어 가장 솔직할 수 있는 공간이다.
그렇기에 나의 솔직한 궁금증들을 보는 이에게 당당하게 물어보고 제시하며 보는 이를 하여금 잠시라도 고민해 보고 되새길 수 있는 시간을 선사 하기를 바란다.
한편의 일기장 같은 그 기록들은 여러 가지 형태로 나와 새롭게 해석되어 또 다양한 이야기들을 가져간다.
2. “보이는 게 전부가 아니다”라는 말을 좋아하는 나로서
밝은 색채를 띠고 있는 작업들은 상반되는 메시지를 갖고 있다.
또는 애매모호한 표정들 속에서 나올 수 있는 다양한 감정의 해석을 즐긴다.
어렴풋하지만 가장 순수했고 무모했고 단순했던 그 시간을 담아내본다. 사회 속에 잠시 잊고 지내던 “우리는 모두 한때 아이였던 시간” 을 돌이켜 보며 보는 이들이 “나만의 행복”을 생각해 보길 바란다. 나는 어떤 아이였는가. 무슨 일을 했을 때 행복했는가. 고찰하는 시간을 가졌으면 좋겠다.
